Cosmelan Peel

The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a unique, multi-ingredient chemical treatment designed to reduce areas of skin discoloration and hyperpigmentation. The Cosmelan Peel decreases the skin’s natural melanin production by inhibiting certain enzymes, providing an even complexion.
Dull skin, dry areas, dark spots, blemishes, and acne scars can be significantly reduced with the peel. Discoloration due to Melasma and Cholasma (similar to Melasma; referred to as the Mask of Pregnancy) can be treated with the Cosmelan Peel. In addition, the peel balances the skin’s oil production to improve acne.

Seaside does require that a consultation with our medical estheticians is booked prior to scheduling your treatment. Your medical esthetician will explain the treatment to you and ensure that you are a good candidate. The Cosmelan Peel has very strict after care protocols and our staff wants the opportunity to address these with you prior to booking the peel.
The Cosmelan Peel is safe for all skin tones and ethnicities, anyone looking for a fresher, more even complexion can make a potential candidate. The ideal patient will fully understand the Cosmelan Chemical Peel process and the requirements for follow up care. They should also be in overall good health, and hold realistic expectations for their results. The benefits and risks of a Cosmelan Peel will be further discussed during the initial consultation appointment.
The treatment is virtually pain free. The patient will only feel some mild to moderate discomfort post treatment with peeling and dryness in certain areas.
Any procedures and products that may increase skin sensitivity should be avoided before your peel treatment. Seaside will send you a list of pre-peel instructions when your appointment is booked.
The Cosmelan Peel will cause noticeable peeling and redness in the first 3 to 5 days. We recommend beginning your treatment near the end of the week so the major peeling is experienced over the weekend when you will not be at work.
Cosmelan targets the melanocytes in the skin to inhibit melanin production, reducing the reappearance of pigmentation in the future.
This unfortunately can not guarantee that no pigmentation will occur, however you can minimize this occurance by strictly following the aftercare provided by your esthetician.
You MUST protect your skin from sun exposure with a full spectrum sunblock to prevent pigmentation return. Treatment can be performed yearly to keep future pigment under control.
